Thornton Grammar School
Project Outline
10 Students from years 7 to year 9 took part in creating this animated film working with National Media Museum. Following a trip to the museum to study the animation gallery, students worked in school to create a mixed, live-action and animated film.
The students wanted to pick up the theme of science and invention in their work, having been inspired by the Kodak gallery and new technology.
The group devised a short film based on time travel, writing scripts, creating plasticine models, voice-overs and effects. They divided the work between the team members and created live action sequences, models, animation, voice-overs and scripts. Students used digital miniDV cameras, animation software and voice recording software to realise their work and the final film was edited using Adobe Premiere elements.
The resulting short film titled ‘DR. Proctor’ has been selected for screening at the Co-op young peoples film festival.
